Rachael Gardner

Rachael is a Partner with Independent Audit. She is a Chartered Accountant whose extensive experience encompasses Risk, Audit and Financial Control in multiple industries.​

Previously Rachael was Head of Audit for Centrica plc, including their insurance business where she was the appointed SMF 5 – Head of Internal Audit.  Before that she was Head of Assurance at Virgin Media. She has established second line of defence compliance functions as well as innovated the approach of Internal Audit to compliment a changing business model.  ​

Her many years of experience in audit and risk gives her a good appreciation of effective approaches for organisations’ risk and control functions, as well as hands-on experience in evaluating the effectiveness of second line and third line functions.​

She is well placed to assist our clients in their assurance journey, be it determining an appropriate assurance solution or assessing the effectiveness of the current assurance model.  Most recently Rachael has led an extensive review of a global organisation’s compliance programme, helping identify ways to improve its impact in managing compliance risk.
